President Murmu attended the January 1, 2026, event at Rashtrapati Bhavan, distributing certificates to students and MPs, alongside an "AI for Beginners" session led by a Google expert. By early 2026, over 1.59 lakh learners enrolled, with thousands certified, boosting AI awareness nationwide. The programme supports workforce readiness amid AI reshaping job sectors.Ò€‹
 

About SOAR Programme
  • Launched: July 2025 by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in coordination with the Ministry of Education
  • Target Audience:
    • Students from Class 6 to Class 12
    • Educators across schools
  • Modules:
    • Students: 3 targeted 15-hour modules covering AI basics, machine learning, and ethical AI use
    • Educators: One 45-hour module to train teachers in AI pedagogy and responsible AI practices
  • Implementation: Delivered through the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH)
  • Budget Allocation: Γ’β€šΒΉ500 crore earmarked in Union Budget 2025–26 for establishing a Centre of Excellence in AI for Education
Objectives
  • AI Literacy: Build awareness and confidence in AI among youth.
  • Industry Readiness: Equip learners with industry-relevant AI skills such as data engineering and machine learning.
