Vallanadu Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi district has seen a significant rise in its blackbuck population, reaching 300 as of December 2025. Restoration efforts under the Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Conservation and Greening Project have transformed dense scrub into grasslands, boosting habitat suitability.
