Pratibimb Module
The Pratibimb Module is a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based software designed for real-time tracking and mapping of cybercriminals and their infrastructure across India. It was developed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Purpose and Functionality
The main objective of the Pratibimb module is to help law enforcement agencies (LEAs), including state police forces, dismantle criminal networks efficiently.
- Geographic Mapping: The software projects the locations of mobile numbers actively used in cybercrimes onto a dynamic GIS map of India.
- Real-time Intelligence: It provides police officers and service providers with a map-based view to ascertain the actual locations of criminal activities, helping to quickly identify cybercrime hotspots.
- Data Integration: The module integrates and analyzes data on SIM cards, mobile phones, and fraudulent accounts used by criminals, aiding in rapid location and apprehension.
- Coordination Platform: Pratibimb operates under the MHA's "Samanvaya" platform, which serves as a central data repository and coordination platform for all State/UT LEAs to share cybercrime data and analytics, especially concerning interstate linkages.
Latest News and Statistics (December 2025)
- Arrest Statistics Updated: According to recent information provided in the Lok Sabha, the Pratibimb Module has been instrumental in the arrest of 16,840 accused cybercriminals across India. This figure has been updated from a previous report in early 2025, which cited around 6,046 arrests.
- Massive Linkage Identification: The module has helped law enforcement agencies (LEAs) identify over 1.5 lakh (150,000) criminal linkages across different states and Union Territories, highlighting how the tool maps interconnected criminal networks that cross jurisdictional boundaries.
- Assistance Requests Processed: The module has successfully processed over 70,000 requests for techno-legal assistance from various LEAs, demonstrating its active and widespread use in ongoing investigations.
- Integration with the 'Samanvaya' Platform: The Pratibimb module operates as a key component of the Ministry of Home Affairs' (MHA) broader 'Samanvaya' platform, which serves as a central data repository for all states/UTs for cybercrime data sharing and analytics.
- Collaboration with Other Initiatives: The MHA uses Pratibimb in tandem with other new initiatives, such as the "Suspect Registry" launched in September 2024. These combined efforts have led to the blocking of over βΉ8,000 crore in suspicious financial transactions, effectively disrupting the financial networks of fraudsters.
- Focus on Hotspots: The GIS-based mapping provided by Pratibimb continues to help police identify cybercrime hotspots like Mewat and Jamtara, allowing for data-driven, targeted field operations and raids.
