Why in news?
Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) and Tata Power signed commercial agreements in November 2025 for the project's implementation through a special purpose vehicle (SPV), with DGPC holding 60% equity and Tata Power 40%.

- Ownership: Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) 60%, Tata Power 40%.β
- Timeline: Preparatory works started 2025; commissioning targeted for 2031-2032.β
- Power Allocation: 80% export to India.β
Strategic Importance
This initiative strengthens India-Bhutan clean energy ties, with 80% of power exporting to India for renewable supply and regional security. It aligns with Bhutan's hydropower focus and India's demand for stable green energy.ββ
