- The focus is on a holistic approach toward nutrition, addressing issues such as undernutrition, overnutrition (including obesity prevention by reducing sugar and oil consumption), anemia prevention, growth monitoring, complementary feeding for young children, and promoting nutrition education ("Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi").
- It includes community engagement activities, technology use (like the Poshan Tracker app for real-time monitoring), environmental initiatives such as “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (one tree in the name of mother), and involvement of men to encourage shared family responsibility in nutrition and caregiving.
- Various activities at village, block, and district levels include awareness rallies, quiz competitions, health checkups, vaccination camps, nutrition counseling, and environmental plantation drives.
- The campaign promotes breaking the cycle of malnutrition linked to poverty, early marriage, and gender discrimination by focusing on the critical first 1,000 days from conception to the child's second birthday.
The 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah is a key government effort to create a widespread movement for better nutrition literacy and healthy habits, contributing to a healthier, well-nourished India with active community participation and innovative governance.
