e-NAM (National Agriculture Market) platform
Why in news?
- The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare announced the addition of 9 new agricultural commodities to the platform, increasing the total number of tradable commodities on e-NAM from 238 to 247.
- The latest commodities include Green Tea, Tea, Ashwagandha Dry Roots, Mustard Oil, Lavender Oil, Mentha Oil, Virgin Olive Oil, Lavender Dried Flower, and Broken Rice.
About eNAM platform
- The platform is a pan-India electronic trading portal that networks existing Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) mandis to create a unified national market for agricultural commodities.
- eNAM aims to streamline and integrate agricultural markets across India through a common online platform.
