The National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2026 are prominently in the news because the Government of India has officially announced the 17 winning digital projects and initiatives. The prestigious awards ceremony will be hosted during the 29th National Conference on e-Governance in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

  • Inception: Instituted in the year 2003 to recognize, reward, and encourage radical digital transformation in governance.
  • Nodal Ministry: Administered by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions.
  • Executing Agency: Executed jointly by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
  • Core Objectives: Designed to recognize excellence in e-governance, institutionalize sustainable digital service models, and promote the duplication of successful tools.
Award Structure & Incentives
  • The Rewards: Each recognition delivers a personalized Trophy and a Certificate to the implementation team.
  • Financial Incentives: Gold Award winners receive a cash incentive of β‚Ή10 Lakh, while Silver Award winners receive β‚Ή5 Lakh.
  • Fund Utilization: Winning departments are strictly required to use the cash incentives to enhance their respective public welfare projects or bridge resource gaps.
Eligible Participants
  • Government Bodies: Open to all Central Ministries, State/UT Departments, Districts, and Urban Local Bodies.
  • Grassroots Institutions: Includes Gram Panchayats and equivalent traditional local administrative organs.
  • Non-Governmental Collaborators: Extends eligibility to Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Academic Institutions, Research Organizations, and registered Startups.

The awards are categorized to recognize diverse digital efforts, covering areas from digital transformation through process re-engineering and AI, to cybersecurity, district-level initiatives, and grassroots service delivery. Furthermore, the categories focus on replicating successful projects at the state level and using data analytics for improved platforms.
