Jeevan Raksha Padak

Why in News?

On 5 August 2026, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari conferred the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak on 12 rat miners who played a crucial role in rescuing 41 workers trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand in November 2023. Each awardee received a medal, certificate, miniature medal and a monetary award of ₹2 lakh.
