Launched on 5 September 2026 in Chennai by Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan at India Valves 2026, the 9th national conference on valvular and structural heart disease.
About
- Nature: It is a clinician-led, AI-enabled, multicentre, patient-level, and longitudinal research platform.
- Scope: It serves as a secure, national database for systematic and de-identified real-world data collection regarding heart valve interventions, particularly transcatheter valve procedures.
Key Objectives & Functionalities
- Data Tracking: It records detailed data tracking beyond the immediate procedure—including patient demographics, treatment protocols, post-discharge outcomes, rehospitalizations, functional recovery, and long-term survival.
- India-Specific Evidence: The registry stops reliance on extrapolated international medical evidence by compiling data specific to Indian patients and physical attributes.
- Standardizing Care: It provides real-world data on the safety and efficacy of medical devices, facilitating standard clinical protocols and benchmarking across hospitals nationwide.
Significance & Expected Impact
- Collective Knowledge: It turns individual hospital experiences into a broader collective medical knowledge base to identify regional treatment gaps and disparities.
- Device Validation: It assists in validating homegrown, indigenous medical devices, pushing forward the vision of a self-reliant Swasth Bharat (Healthy India).
- Patient Safety: Aggregated data will enable early detection of cardiac device complications, leading to better diagnostic practices and minimized variations in treatment quality.
