eSARAS is in the news because the Press Information Bureau (PIB) released a comprehensive update highlighting how this digital marketplace is transforming rural livelihoods by directly connecting over 8.62 crore women Self-Help Group (SHG) members to national and institutional markets.
What is eSARAS?
- Official Online Marketplace: Created for authentic handcrafted, handloom, and natural products made by rural women.
- Nodal Ministry: Developed by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD).
- Parent Scheme: Runs under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
