Why in News?
The "Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia" (Star of the Republic of Indonesia, First Class) is in the news because on 7 July 2026, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with this prestigious medal by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The ceremony took place at the Istana Merdeka presidential palace in Jakarta during PM Modi's official state visit to the country.

  • Highest National Honour: It is the pinnacle decoration of the Republic of Indonesia, ranking above all other civilian and military awards.
  • Official Institution: The order of merit was formally established by the Indonesian government in 1959.
