Agentic AI Skilling Program
Why in News?
The Agentic AI Skilling Program is a joint initiative launched on September 3, 2026, by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with Intel India.
What is Agentic AI? (The Core Technology)
Unlike traditional or conversational AI that simply answers prompts, Agentic AI acts as an autonomous agent. It operates using a continuous five-step loop:
- Perception: Gathers raw data from databases, user interfaces, or sensors.
- Reasoning: Uses Large Language Models (LLMs) to understand context and formulate answers.
- Planning: Formulates a step-by-step action plan to achieve a specific goal.
- Action: Executes the tasks or interacts with other computer systems independently.
- Reflection: Analyzes the result of its own actions, learning and improving over time.
Objectives
- Future-Ready Workforce: To develop a highly competitive and future-ready talent ecosystem capable of driving India's next phase of AI growth.
- Practical Learning: To move beyond theoretical knowledge by expanding access to hands-on, industry-aligned AI implementation.
- Democratizing AI: Supporting India's "Sovereign AI" mission by providing accessible entry points to cutting-edge tech across the country.
The Two Specialized Programs Introduced
The initiative offers two distinct learning tracks to suit different expertise levels:
- Agentic AI for Everyone
- Target Audience: General learners, business professionals, and beginners.
- Focus: Workflow automation, multi-agent systems, and AI productivity tools.
- Platform Used: Hands-on experience using no-code platforms to design and govern AI-powered workflows without needing programming skills.
- Engineering Agentic AI Systems
- Target Audience: Developers, engineers, and technical professionals.
- Focus: Full lifecycle design, creation, and deployment of scalable, production-ready AI agents.
- Platform Used: In-depth exposure to low-code platforms and code-based frameworks.
- Curriculum Elements: Covers agent architecture, memory systems, tool integration, and cloud deployment orchestration.
