Why in News?
The 4th Lavender Festival (2026) is in the news following the official launch of its web portal and brochure by CSIR-IIIM, announcing the event for June 6–7, 2026, in Bhaderwah, Jammu and Kashmir. Centered on the theme "Lavender Goes Global," the festival highlights India's "Purple Revolution" and its impact on rural prosperity.
 

About the Purple Revolution & Aroma Mission
  • Chief Guest: Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister
  • Purple Revolution: Central initiative under CSIR-Aroma Mission to boost farmer incomes through high-value aromatic crops like lavender
  • CSIR-Aroma Mission: Transformed lavender cultivation into a major livelihood source in J&K
  • Economic impact: Lavender cultivation in the region has generated over β‚Ή10.5 crore in economic value (from 2025 festival data)
  • 1,200+ stakeholders participated in the 3rd festival (farmers, scientists, investors, policymakers)
