17th Kathakali Festival

Why in News?
The 17th Kathakali Festival is recently in the news because it was officially inaugurated on September 18, 2026, at the Bharata Kalakshetra Auditorium in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai. The prestigious three-day cultural event runs from September 18 to September 20, 2026.

About Kathakali
  • Origin: A highly stylized classical dance-drama that originated in Kerala during the 17th century.
